DTC's or scan tool codes are a good place to start for diagnostic direction, but they do not tell the whole story.
Before replacing a part consider ..
- Is the code caused by another component entirely?
- Is it set because of a faulty sensor?
- Is there a short or break in the wiring causing the code?
- Is it set because of a faulty actuator or faulty feedback from the actuator?
- Is it a scan tool miss-interpretation?
- Is the code reporting the symptom or the cause?
A code can be as little as 10% of the actual solution.
